^So they would heat up the tail lights, remove the cover and do that?  I've never heard of one doing so.  I might check into it.

I didn't realize you were speaking about the chromed reflector part. I doubt they would remove the outer lens. They would probably lay the vinyl on whatever you brought in to be covered.

You could probably buy an inexpensive heat gun to remove the lens and simply spray the reflector with black paint. Whatever you do (vinyl, paint) it will most likely mess up the cheap plastic chromed finish. I've seen the cheap plastic chrome come off from soap and water. You could seal the outer lens back on with clear RTV.

Here is what everyone needs to know about Lighting for Vehicles:
If the product you install on your vehicles does not have this stamped on the lenses or backed up by a selling entity that sells products, then it is Not Legal to have on your vehicles:

All lamps and products must meet or exceed applicable DOT (department of transportation) standards and SAE (society of American engineers) specifications, and are designed with particular consideration for the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard , FMVSS-108 and QS9000 and ISO9001:2000 (in other words how there built).
Need I say more ? Naww

^Yeah but it all depends on where you live, my windows are way too dark, I have no front license plate, and I've had tinted tail lights before, cops around here don't care.

i used something called NiteShade from O'Reily's Auto Parts store and it worked great. when i have time ill take a pic of them(they are my stock lights) and you can see every color of light as bright and colorful as it was(brake=red, blinker=yellow, backup=white) looks really good too

If you could see every color of light as bright and as colorful as before then what was the point of blackign them out?

And how much do those black covers for your lights run?

Still Ilegal and I hope you don't get caught, cause you may not be able to pay for the fine.

Hey...my opinion on your tail light tint is, a little plain, the tint is a little to transparent, if you could use a little darker color it'll look nice.
