I already answered it: There is no way to boost low end torque on a Honda.  All the power is in the high end.

6genex, if you really want more torque, heres a sure fire way to get some:  sell the Accord & buy a Ram.

Seriously, maybe you won't give up the 17s, but if you got rid of those SPECIFIC 17s for ultralight alloys, you could get some more response.  They say 1 lb of unsprung weight = 4 lbs of sprung weight.
Wheels, tires, brakes: all unsprung.  springs, suspension arms, driveshafts: all semi-sprung.  The big deal is if you drop the weight of your tire/wheel assembly by 4 lbs per wheel, thats 16 lbs * 4 = 64 lbs.
That's why drag racers all use billit wheels - the 15" wheel itself weight like 5 lbs, compared to 30 lbs for a 20" aluminum wheel.  25*4*4=400 lbs!!

word, my 17s currently weigh 22 lbs. 5th gen stock EX 7 spokes weigh 15lbs. (7 x 4) 4 = 112lbs from what you say. man that's a crap load. tires play a factor as well, but the majority of low profile tires weigh more due to the increased thickness of the sidewall.

my only arguement against that is the brakes should be more of a sprung weight then anything, after all brakes arent part of the rotational mass   the aim for that should be reduction of weight for the rimms, tires, and half shafts but quality light weight half shafts will cost a crapload more then lightweight rimms   so i guess it should only be considered for the first two ^_^

ok thanks 00accord i get the picture but if you go back and read my last posts i wasn't specifically talking about low end torque but torque in general, but anyways since there seems to not be many good ways to, how about $500> ways to boost hp, most bang for your buck type of thing, the CAI w/ K&N filter has made a noticeable difference from what it used to be + it sounds much better

OK.  Well a header will increase your hp & torque in the high end.  A catback exhaust also.  I would go with OBX or Megan Header (cheap & decent quality) and I have heard good things about Magnaflow exhaust.

To make your car as fast as possible, do the cat-back or pipe ..... 2.25 only.  The header will rob you off the line and the high end gains aren't worth the loss at low-end ....... unless you keep the speedo above 70 most of the time.

What about upgrading your torque converter?  If your engine idled at a higher RPM, you would reach that max torque sooner since the Accords reach their max torque in the 5000s I think?

Torque converter and idle are 2 different things.  The idle is set as low as possible without causing the engine stress (lugging or shaking).  A higher stall rpm torque converter will allow you to launch quicker and get to 60 quicker, but at the expense of driving comfort.  The stock setting is around 2000 rpms and I think that Dr. Evil uses a 2500 rpm stall.  Any higher and you have to rev real high to move which is undesirable to most people.  The first thing that you need to look into is how to launch an automatic car.  Once you can launch properly, you will know how the stall speed will affect the car (power braking to the stall speed at part-throttle for pre-loading).

Hey thanks Falklore.  I didn't know all that.  Maybe you could enlighten me a little more on how to launch my automatic properly?  I'd appreciate it.

It's not something you want to do all of the time, but basically you hold the brakes as tight as you can and get the tach as close to 2000 without the wheels braking loose (2000 is the stock stall speed, this would be higher with the Dr. Evil at 2500).  When the light changes, you let go of the brakes and floor the gas (assuming that you don't have major power where you'll just eat up the tires).  If you have too much power, rather than floor it, you gas to where your tires can hold the road when you drop the brakes.

Please note that I very rarely do this.  It's hard on all systems involved.

I used to "power brake" in my auto 1991 5.0 Mustang.  I could smoke the tires all the way through first gear while the car was still stopped and it would shift into second gear still smoking the tires.  I always let off being afraid I would blow out the tires.  I normally wouldn't ever do it unless I had some "coaxing" from friends.

but a honda doesn't have that kind of torque.  it will shave a few tenths off of your 0-60 time
