I have a new 08 Accord V6 coupe and don't hit the redline often but I do like to get on it. I'd say I shift at the redline every once in a while. it feels like my car is designed to be driven like that. It responds great, stays in V-tech, and has launches down the road at 4.5Krpm in any gear. But you're right.  If it weren't designed for that, Honda would have painted the redline at a lower RPM.  I redline my engines too.  But when traffic doesn't allow me to accelerate like that, then I shift at 2200.  It's all about the situation you're in at the moment. _____________________________ '03 Accord & '07 Civic '01 Saab 9³ & '05 9²x (in reply to Saint N) Post #: 79

RE: High Revs - 5/6/2008 8:54:37 AM    acordlver   Posts: 8 Joined: 4/29/2008 Status: offline pegging rev limiter is ok when there is a load on the engine and you arent hanging out there all day.  Reving it in place is not as good for the motor but if you have engine management then you can lower the stock rev limiter so you don't feel as bad when you do it and don't do as much damage over time.
