I hear ya on the bmw thing.  I guess since bmw has branded it "the ultimate driving machine" every bmw driver thinks they have the best car out there.   A coule weeks back I was driving down a back road going the speed limit and some middle aged woman in some bmw was tailing me.  She had plenty of time to pass me, yet show chose to ride my a$$.  I was looking in my rear view every so often and I noticed she threw her hands up as if she was saying ftw backwards so I applied the brakes, just enough to scare her.  It was funny and after I did that she left some room.  To me unless the bmw is an m series or dinan edition, these people need to back off.

Prediction:  1 series owners with the twin turbo are gonna be some of the most annoying owners on the road.  They will be trying to race every person on the road.  I do have to admit, I kind of want a twin turbo 1 series

CKE:  In that case, I'd see how good the BMW's brakes compare to my Brembo's.  After all, if they could afford such a pricey car, they could afford to get sued for whiplash damages for driving like an @$$hOl

And keep in mind...if they do rear-end you when you give them a "brake check" it IS thier fault.  If you are asked "why did you slam on your brakes?" all you have to say is you saw a squirrel (or some other small animal) run across the road in front of you and you didn't want to hit it.  Usually that question doesn't come up though. It's a waste of time for insurance adjusters to even ask it.
Scumbag claimants do it all the time.  here's how they do it:
Immediately claim their neck & back hurts and they have a headache.  Have an ambulance transport them from the scene.  Recurring headaches are nearly impossible to prove or disprove.  They keep going back to the doc as much as possible "because it hurts so bad."
They usually go ahead and get a lawyer to help them run up the medical bills. The lawyer tries get at least the same amount of their medical bills as a settlement.  i.e. $6,000 in medical bills = $12,000 settlement.  The lawyer will get the medical bills reduced to around 1/3, so the settlement would = $2,000 to the medical providers, $5,000 to the lawyer, and $5000 in the claimant's pocket.    Their car repairs are not included in that settlement amount.  They like it when their car is totaled because that would possibly make for a better settlement.
I'm not saying anyone should do this.  I'm just telling you how it's done successfully by scumbags.  And don't do it in Mississippi or I may be your insurance adjuster and I'll take you all the way to court cause I know you're faking.

I've heard of that done on more than one occassion (people brake checking to get rear-ended).  I just settled my claim for an accident from like 7 years ago and ran into an interesting issue... the lady was no longer with that insurance company, had moved and got married so they couldn't find her, which made it incredibly difficult to serve her court papers and was going to draw the thing out a lot, so I just settled.  I also found out that attorneys take the total of the settlement amount, take their 30% (or whatever they charge) THEN pay out whatever needs paid, and give you the rest.  That's how they get such a nice chunk of change....  I wish I would have fought it myself and not hired a lawyer.

I did learn that if your car is totaled and you don't have any medical issues you can just walk into or call the adjustors office, tell them you think you're fine but you want $xxx.xx for your car (ask for about $1,000.00 extra if someone else was at fault) and they will happily cut you a check to settle the whole thing rather than risk you going in for medical treatment.

That is also correct most of the time.
Usually lawyers do take their 1/3 first, then pay off any liens, then pay you.  So the lawyer always comes out on top.  that's why trial lawyers and claimant lawyers are such scumbags.  they are constantly screwing people out of money.
If someone acts like they "might be" hurt, but their car is totaled and they ask for $1,000 more than it is really worth, I will cut a check that day to exchange it for a release.

I actually kinda like my car.  It's pretty much uptodate on maintenance and has a few extras, nothing much.  I'd hate to waste my money and labor and then end up with another used car that might require me to do everything I did to this one all over.  Maybe i'll use the brake check method when i'm getting ready for a new car.  For the record, I didn't slam on them, I just applied them gently to get the woman off my butt.

Back to the subject...I really dislike people who speed up to get in front of you just to turn right and slow you down.  They could have easily slowed themselves down and got behind, but the rather be the first one.  rarrr...

What really irks me are people who use a freeway exit to get in front of a bunch of people then last min they get back on freeway (usually cut people off when they do this)  rarrr to that too.

I dont think I could bring myself to crash my own car. Although I would definetly like a new paint job! my current color is "heather mist metallic", or in other words, puke tan.
