Hey everybody I'm thinking of changing my '87 accord exhaust system, well get rid of it sort of speak. I want to cut a hole on the bottom of the exaust right before it goes into the catalytic converter so I doesn't have to go through all of that junk wich makes the car exaust work harder. Good idea?

Don't expect to like the sound...or be satisfied with the gains. The air flow wil still be poo poo and the sound will match.

better off getting a decat pipe and fitting that,

- my exhaust is currently broken before the cat (at the flex joint thingy) and its really annoying- the sound comes from the front of the car- whenever you let go off the gas there is a pants burble noise and more significantly- at times it can make the car jerk a tiny bit when pulling away (inconsitent exhaust flow i think?)

also, the heat comes out from the middle of the car.......

its not going to sound well for one and it could cause other things to mess up. it prob. wont even fix the problem. you should try a new exhaust system and see if your satisfied with that. i think you would really like that.

i have a 1992 Accord Lx, i had a hole in a little piece that connects from the headers to the pipe that connects to catylictic converter. It sounded terrible, and im pretty sure i didnt gain anything from it, if i did have any gain, i didn't notice it. Also now that it's fixed, my car doesnt seem to want to stall anymore at a stoplight like it used to. Another thing you may be able to do is go to a autozone store, they have peices of exhaust pipping. Buy a piece, cut out the area of the CC (catylictic converter) and replace it with the peice from autozone.

HOTT dude, I've got the same car (except EX) and problem as yours. So here's my thing, since I already own a cat-back (not installed, 3" system), should i just buy 3" headers and a performance catalytic converter and install that or should I just take it to ExhaustPros and have them fix it?

It's also nasty for the car, cause valve damage or other problems, with the hole in mine, it backfires, flupflups, and causes a heavy deceleration, you don't want to cut a hole in your stuff.

This action will also make your Check Engine Light come on and tell you that you need a new Oxygen Sensor...
