so my girlfriend has a 2003honda accord.  I started it the the other day and the power steering pump was whinning bad. I opened the resevoir and the fluid was brown and foamie. once the motor reaches temp the noise stops. I have been sucking out the resevoir and replacing with fresh fluid. I have gone through two quarts now and problem still there. possible contamination/water???. any ideas would be helpful. thanks

sounds like air in the system to me.  i would fill it back up, then just start the car, and turn the wheel from lock to lock for a few minutes and it should bleed itself

Somewhere in system (suction side) the pressure is below atmospheric and air is being pulled into the system. Check all suction side hoses and connections carefully. There is a filter of sorts in the bottom of the reservoir, that if paritally blocked might make the problem worse. You may want to replace reservoir.

good luck
