power steering - 9/28/2008 10:19:04 AM    79pete   Posts: 2 Joined: 9/28/2008 Status: offline so my girlfriend has a 2003honda accord.  I started it the the other day and the power steering pump was whinning bad. I opened the resevoir and the fluid was brown and foamie. once the motor reaches temp the noise stops. I have been sucking out the resevoir and replacing with fresh fluid. I have gone through two quarts now and problem still there. possible contamination/water???. any ideas would be helpful. thanks Post #: 1

RE: power steering - 9/28/2008 11:15:50 AM    TexasHonda   Posts: 1420 Joined: 2/18/2007 Status: offline Somewhere in system (suction side) the pressure is below atmospheric and air is being pulled into the system. Check all suction side hoses and connections carefully. There is a filter of sorts in the bottom of the reservoir, that if paritally blocked might make the problem worse.
