rear end gears - 7/18/2008 6:53:22 AM    onehung2low   Posts: 18 Joined: 7/18/2008 Status: offline hey guys, im new, i have a 2000 honda accord 2.3 liter with a nuspeed short throw shifter, megan racing headers full magna flow exhaust and aem short ram air, i was just wondering wat exacting the rear end gears do... and if i wanted more horse power would i change them bigger or smaller or what?  Post #: 1

RE: rear end gears - 7/18/2008 7:28:08 AM    JimBlake   Posts: 3082 Joined: 5/31/2006 Status: offline Rear-end gears can mean the final drive ratio, but here its located inside the tranny case.  Not as much opportunity to change as a Mustang or Camaro.  Its more common to swap trannys with for example a Prelude. Surprisingly, our manual trans gear ratios (1st gear anyway) are already lower than those of a stock 5.0 Mustang.  We just don''t have the power.
