For this neuspeed short shift adapter...

http://neuspeed.com/products/product_details.asp?app=52|AC&type=3&ltype=ns_import&p_id=1047

I was wondering... does this only shorten the throw, or will it make the shifter also appear shorter. I LOVE the look of a short shifter... like the pics Falkore posted not too long ago in his tC. Something about it is just so... right. From what I''ve read in the instructions, I would think the throw is shortened, but the appearance remains the same. Anyone got insight?

It does not change the height.

Do as I did, install the kit then use a shift knob that is lower than the stock one. I chose the Monster Knob and love the feel of it in hand plus it''s shorter.

Is that a universal knob, or does it actually thread on? I had a universal knob for about 3 days before I decided I hated it, cuz it didn''t stay in place.

As mentioned, the SS adapter only moves the pivot point, shortening the throw.  I changed the entire shifter rod.  A common miscomception is that a shorter shifter equals a shorter throw .... while this is true if keeping the same pivots, a long rod can have a short throw.  This pic is from the guys car that made my short shifter.  He claims that he has a shorter throw than any SS on the market.

You are certainly welcome. The shift kit, Monster Knob, and Red Line MTL in the transmission makes for one sweet shifting and effortless gear box regardless of the outside temperature.

Ok, so I''m definitely considering the monster knob... just one more question, texas. How does it keep the boot from slopping all around? I read the DIY, but can''t figure out how the boot stays up.

A washer (two sizes supplied) goes on top of the nut screwed onto the gearshift lever. It is explained in the DIY link above but no picture.
