RE: BLacked out tail lights????
I would not do it as it:
may be illegal will peel over time |
RE: BLacked out tail lights????
Well I like blacked out cars, so yeah I think it would look good. But I would go w/ what YeuEmMaiMai said he aint goin' to stear you wrong. Mybe just go w/ black housing head lights and leave the tail lights alone.

RE: BLacked out tail lights????

RE: BLacked out tail lights????
Tint is was peels dude...

RE: BLacked out tail lights????
I would suggest having someone maybe you know that works with paint like a bodyshop and have them "smoke" your stock taillights...i plan to do that with my stock tails on my 02 blue accord coupe...that way they aren't going to peel and it gives your car the look alot of people dont have.....

RE: BLacked out tail lights????
A buddy of mine has a Toyota Tacoma and he just used a light layer of spray paint. They look really good but im not sure if i would trust myself to spray paint my taillights.

RE: BLacked out tail lights????
Don't get altezzas they are ricey
Comon Ricey is Nicey :D |
RE: BLacked out tail lights????
I was actually thinking about blackout my tailights as well. A guy who tinted my windows said that tint cannot be used on tailights. It would peel off like crazy after a few weeks. I will probably have my friend who works at the body shop to paint them for me. However, I'm a little bit skeptical if it's legal to do it in my state (IL). I also attach a picture of how would my car look like after this job is done.

Damn near all cars no matter was color have light smoke or black'd out tail light in L.A. I tried the spay on and It didn't look good, so i went with the sticker. Check out the link sticker city very thick 3m tint and it was very easy to cut and put on. |
RE: BLacked out tail lights????
Is tint what is used to normally black out stock taillights. I have seen them everywhere and not peeling.
|
RE: BLacked out tail lights????
Tint or spray and some cars like camero's have plastic covers.
|
RE: BLacked out tail lights????
my friend did it to his liquid silver focus (basically the same color) and it does look really good, however over time yes it's probably going to peel a little bit, however it's not that expensive to do/redo... go to walmart and look at their stuff for it and just do it yourself

RE: BLacked out tail lights????
I will be getting my 5% tints put on my accord this weekend, what % tint do you recommend for the taillights on a 06. They don't seem to be too bright during the day, although I just got it today so I haven't had much time to play with it.

RE: BLacked out tail lights????
i would also suggest smoking your tails. my friend did it to his black a4 and it looks amazing. ive also seen it done to some white cars i didnt mind. what you need to do is go to a auto place like napa and checker and pick up this "black smoke" spray. that way you can controll how dark you want it to. dont forget to wet sand

RE: BLacked out tail lights????
I have my lights smoked/tinted what the guy did was mixed clear coat and black then scuffed the lights and painted them. They look real nice and I have had them for a while and they havent peeled. However my car is black (01 4dr Accord), I would say not to get them tinted if the car isnt black.

RE: BLacked out tail lights????
use VHT nightshades, several light "dry" coats followed by 1 or 2 "wet" coats (dont use too much or it will run) and it will look like they came stock that way. Best part is you can control how dark you want it (fewer coats-lighter, more coats-darker) and if you F-up you can use goof off and it will come off completely. Also it wont fade or peel, i did mine 3yrs ago and still looks as good as when i first did it
