Changing headlight 1990 Accord
 

My 1990 Accord EX (bought new) is running remarkably well consider she is 30 years old. Obviously i have changed my headlights over the past 30 years but each time the locking ring that holds the headlight bulb is always a huge struggle. Have always assumed the large protuding tab at bottom is what requires turning, but have noticed the ring appears to have compressible detents. The retaining ring on the left/passenger side has only a narrow gap for your hand. In the past have struggled for some time then eventually the ring frees up, once it 'releases' it actually moves easily.This year is no different but would really love an answer to this question: IS THERE A SECRET TO HOW TO UNLOCK THE HEADLIGHT RETAINING RING? A diagram would be ideal! THanks!
