Dash Re-Coloring
I want to change the color of my dash from the brown / tan lstock look.
I've read a ton of posts from a bunch of different sites and everyone has taken out the dash or whatever peices they were working on. -Since this is my daily driver, and time isn't on my side, taken out the dash ect. isn't an option. I am wondering if there is a dye or somethign that I can use to "dye" the top portion of the dash. Sounds kind of dumb, but was thinking of something like shoe polish. But then again I want something to last and not rub off or get smudged or smeared. What do you guys think? |
If you use shoe polish it'll work till you touch it, then it'll rub off. Dye wont sink into plastic so just replace the dash.

Ok so I have been thinking on this for awhile and still cannot come up with an alternative to taking out the entire dash just to paint it with the vinyl dye rattle can stuff.
As for what I was thinking, there must be something that can be applied to the dash rather than having to remove it. I was thinkng of something like a stain. Mybe some type of wood stain or something, just thinking outside the box here. I guess another alternative could be to tape off the A pillars, and then place a plastic type drop cloth over seats and surrounding areas and another for the inside of the windshield, cover head unit area and gauges and just spray the dash with the vinyl dye that I have heard alot about. Maybe with some patience and preparation this could be done. What do you think? |
