Plastidiped Rims ;) (warning, large pic files)

Well after seeing my friends 2000 prelude sh with plastidip on his rims I decided to try it on my 05 accord. Bottom line, I like it and it only took like 2 hours. Also a cool thing i found is that we can swap rims n that prelude rims look nice on the accord.

looks good other than that
Hideous wheel gap lol. I'm gonna be doing the same thing on my cb soon. Peil another HAF member has done the same thing |
lol yea... it was worse with the prelude rims, they are 50 rather than the 60 tires on the accord. I wanna get coilovers n lower it maybe 1-2 inches.
|
did you use any clear coat or anything to keep them looking fresh after the weather gets a hold of them?
|
nope, didnt do much prep either. cleaned them then sprayed them with 3-4 coats. My friend with the prelude did the same thing n his have lasted 1 month so far and still look new. I figure for 12.99 for 2 cans n 2 hours of work 2-3 months is a good deal. Planing on gettin different rims for christmas anyways.

yeah you can't beat a $13 paint job. Then I just need my $1500 paint job for the rest if the car lol
|
... that can wait lol, it does need new paint though
|
yeah I'm just gonna do the OEM color with no pin stripe. It grew on me I didn't really care for it when I bought the car now I love it lol
Plus my OEM color will look sick nasty with the pink lug nuts brake calipers and traction bar |
Update on plastidip rims. Finally removed the plastidip cus it started to discolor on the front rotors from the brake dust. It took a few hours... only because my friend did very thin coats on the two rims he painted and it just kept ripping. The two rims I put thick coats on came off in 2-3 large peices and took maybe 5 min each.

I used it on my chrome trim on my car before I painted it. I am getting ready to plastidip my chrome wheels soon. |
