Trunk lift support conversion

I have a 2003 Accord EX V6 2dr. When I upgraded my rear deck speakers, I discovered the trunk springs rub against the new drivers, so I set the springs to the lighter notch in their mounts, making them useless in holding up the trunk. I made a couple brackets and attached lift supports to the trunk lid arms and the back wall. They worked GREAT!

I now want to remove the torsion springs and replace the lift supports with a pair that can lift the trunk by themselves, and I mean lift, like an inch when I hit the trunk open button, as well as hold the thing open while parked on an incline (instead of falling on my head like when I loosened the torsion bars)

Now we finally get to my question: to anyone who has done a conversion, and before I just guess and waste money, do you know what force rating is appropriate for a pair of supports? At the very least, do you know what the original torsion bars are rated at? At least that would give me some idea.
