(06) cd player no longer "seen" by cd/aux/xm button
 

Hello all,

The cd player has been showing "mecha error", and the CDs in it are not ejected. Today I pulled the radio fuse. After plugging it back in and entering the code, the cd player is no longer seen by the cd/aux/xm button. Pushing the button goes from xm1 to xm2 and back to xm1. There is no longer xm1, xm2, cd.

Any troubleshooting recommendations? This is the factory radio that came w/ the car. Thanks for your help.

Sorry to be the one to tell you but your going to have to replace the unit if you want to keep it OEM. There really is no known way to fix it. You can look around these forums for a more detailed response but in essence, I really recommend you forget about the stock unit and go aftermarket. But if you really want to replace it with the stock unit. I would be weary of th eunits on ebay, as I think most of them had the screen go out and have been repaired. I've got my "premium" OEM unit from my 06 that was only used for a couple of months for sale on here. If your interrested let me know. Good luck man.

Thanks for the reply. That's what it felt like after reading some other posts. Good to know it's not worth pulling the console apart until I'm ready to replace the unit, ideally with one that has an aux input.
