15" Eclipse SW9152 in a '98 Coupe?

I am planning to buy a 98 Accord Coupe this weekend and I havea 15" Eclipse Titanium that I would like to use, but I don't know if it would fit. Can anybody give me the dimentions of the trunk, tell me if it does fit, or show me a pic of your car with a 15" in it? I'm trying to find out asap so that I can sell my 15" and get the 12" version. Any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Here is the car I'm planning to buy:

I have an eclipse 12 in a sealed box that fits fine.... I don't know what they suggest for a box size though.... It all depends on what style you want on how/if it will fit...

you can always make one yourself so that you have it the way you want it to be. Just go to home depot and get some plywood and some tools.

Don't listen to the guy above. If you want to make your own box, which you should. You use MDF not ply. Just google for a tutorial. I have two 15"s in a vented box with 3 cubic feet. Fits with more then enough room, but can barely get in and out of the trunk. I have a 4d 06 so my trunk is different and prolly bigger. If the opening into the trunk is really limiting your options you can just pull out the back seat and have a much bigger entrance to the trunk. Check the links below for references.

BTW I don't know much about eclipses, but that sub seems to have a foam surround. I wouldn't trust a sub, especially a 15", with a foam surround. I love my kicker CVRs they have a ribbed rubber surround which is glued and stitched to the cone. What you should do if you want to stay with that speaker is put it in a vented box and give it less power. Sealed boxes are less efficient and in my opinion don't sound as good as vented boxes, assuming you listen to rap. If you listen to rock, you defiantly shouldn't go with a 15" to begin with.

Hope this helps![sm=americanasmiley.gif]

EDIT: If your only putting one, you will defiantly have room.

"Don't listen to the guy above"
hahah yea I'm going with a ported 35hz 3/4"mdf all around and a 1" baffle. I've been playing with car audio for a couple of years now so I know a lil more than the basics. I listen to mostly rap. I just need to know if the Sub would fit. Like is the trunk's height large enough. I'm not so worried about the sides I'm just worried about the height because if it doesn't fit I would have to make a ported wedge box, which I have never done before, or I would have to build into my spare tire well which I don't want to do. If anybody has the demensions of the trunk let me know. I'm basicly looking to see if a 15"L ported box would fit.

Oh and t00fat, this sub is well known in my area, ithas amazing spl and yet it still keeps its sq, sounding crisp and clear while it can rattle the windows of the houses you pass by.

"dont listen to the guy above" haha that made me feel stupid haha jk. but you do agree with me when i say to make their own box. i think its cheaper that way.

Yea I don't like prefab boxes. Buiding your own box lets you decide how much trunk space you want and to what hz to tune it to and imo is higher quality than prefab if you know how to build an enclosure correctly.

"EDIT: If your only putting one, you will defiantly have room." I guess a single 15" does fit.

Anybody have pics of their 15" in a 98-02 coupe? Just curious to see how many people have a 15" in a coupe. Im also curious to see how it looks like.

Height is definalty the limiting factor, if I remember correctly my box is 17" tall. If it were an inch taller it wouldn't go in and out through the trunk. But also if my box was half as long, I would be putting it in differenlty and taller should be fine. I did a square port on my box, just b/c I like the way it looked. I built the box to go in my suburban, but it fits perfectly in my accord now. To keep your box short, I would put the port on the side of the box, or even on the front and off to the side. I think your best bet would be to put a long square port on the front side of the box to the side of the speaker. Here is a picture of my box, I don't have a pic of it in my accord yet. You really won't have a problem getting it into your trunk especially if your only putting one.

I probably should have clarified that as well.... I listen to a lot of punk/rock so I went with a smaller box and a sealed 12", it sounded awesome and really well balanced with my Fosgate 6.5" component speakers in my civic (I didn't even have rear deck speakers at all). Boxes are all about what you like to hear....
