Hello,

I'm just an average joe, looking to put in two 10" subs in my Accord. I know a lot of you guys will cringe, but I'm going to probably go with the cheaper aluminum wires instead of getting the more expensive copper ones. Friend has the cheaper aluminum wires with two 10" subs in his toyota camry and it sounds good enough for me lol.

He did get a new radio in his car but on the 7th Gen Accords since the a/c control and the radio is one unit and i find the extra radio down below looks ugly.

BASICALLY, I'm looking to add an amp and two 10" subs and was wondering if this combo is decent:

looking for something similar to these in price i guess. if someone can tip me with what kind of wires to get that are relatively cheap too that would be awesome!

the issues i've seen with alumimum wires are pretty severe. many times the fuse holder melts due to added resistance between the brass and aluminum. i've seen enough melted and damaged wires to be a cause for alarm. just check the connections regularly (monthly).

i participate in the $150 challenge with friends where we have $150 for new subs and new amps and compete in SPL for fun. 145dB is usually attained but this year the challenge saw 148 and even 150.1dB.

The amps you have linked are pretty small and only good for 100W per sub. I recently purchased an Autotek AXL 1650.2 for the challenge and it did well and has decent features but only produces 400W usable watts. I used a Boss Audio AR4000D last year that has been tested to 1,000-1,300W delivered. The Boss Audio AR2500M has been another surprising performer.

The main difference between a monoblock and a 2-channel is the impedance load they can handle - and that affects your sub choice for coil impedance and wiring.

The surprising sub in the challenge was the HiFonics HFX12D4 and is only $40. The JBL CS1014 is a decent budget sub for $40.

You only need 4awg power for the amps you're looking at so just stick with copper and save yourself future fire hazards.

Streetwires, Stinger, Scosche, and Rockford Fosgate all make decent wiring kits.
