2006 Honda Accord stereo quits working
 

The stereo in our 2006 Honda Accord keeps tripping some internal mechanism that shuts it off and won't turn on.

If we disconnect the battery or pull the radio fuse, the radio portion will work for a while but the cd player won't accept CDs.

After sometimes a few hours, max a day we will start the car and the stereo will be dead again.

Sometimes, it sounds like the CD player is turning, but there is no CD in it.

I've pulled the stereo and made sure there isn't anything in the CD player that might be causing it to continuously spin and overheat the system.

The honda accord stereo seems problematic on the web but I haven't seen anything quite like this issue.

Any other ideas?

I believe Alpine makes the units; you can contact Alpine to check their repair costs. Otherwise, there are options such as salvage yard, ebay, aftermarket unit, etc.
