2013 Accord limited functionality while moving

First post here (sorry if this has been asked and answered, I did a lot of reading and couldn't find anything): I just got a new Accord EX trim and really like it, except (as some have also experienced) some of the audio system functions. My biggest complaint is the limited functionality of the menus/text messages while moving. No I do not want to be able to text and drive easily, but it would be nice to be able to browse my ipod by first letter while moving without having to scroll through the entire catalog.

My question: Has anyone figured out how to disable the moving lockout of menus in the AV system? It seems like it should be relatively easy (I know it is just a matter of grounding a particular lead on some aftermarket nav units) I just cannot find any information out there. Any help would be appreciated.

PS I am not new to stereo installations/modifications. I am by no means advanced, but I am very comfortable tearing into the interior of a new car.

basically you want to find the wire on the factory radio that ties to the neutral safety switch or similar?

good question. we need a schematic of the radio wiring harness...

Yep, exactly. I am going to be digging into the interior here pretty soon to do a stereo installation and will hopefully figure it out then. Do you have any good resources or ideas for tracking down the wiring schematics for the ICE system in these cars? I wonder how different the 2013 is from the 2012 in this regard given that they just redesigned it.

KHA: were you over on diyma or mobile sound science forums at some point? Your avatar looks familiar. I used to frequent both of those forums.

i've been on many forums in the past 9 years. DIYMA is one of them.

finding the wiring schematic will be tricky. you could narrow it down though. there will be extra wires that are not in the harness that goes to the factory amplifier or steering wheel controls.
