65+ watt high beams
 

Does anyone have any suggestions on high beams to buy that are higher than 65 watt ? I'm not interested in the legalities either.... Let's just say it's for off-road use, yeah ;) Lots of choices from Google out there ! My preference is Amazon, especially direct from them or at least one that's "fulfilled by Amazon".

For the limited amount of usage they'll see, I don't think there should be any battery or alternator concerns.

The year accord would help. If you put that info in your signature, then you don't have to remember.

You will have less headaches in the long run if you leave the car stock, especially with electrical stuff.

I am sure you can install just about anything you want. Be sure the stock wiring harness can handle the bulbs you install. If not, then use the proper relay/wiring setup. You do not want to melt wires or possibly cause a fire.

A 65w bulb at 13.5 volts draws 4.8 amp. I doubt that circuit is designed for 5 amp, but more likely 10 amp (I guess 7.5a is a possibility). I will double-check though....

Checked the manual and there are separate 20a fuses for the left and right. I was expecting separate ones for the low and high beam as well. Those fuses are excessively high, are they not ? Unless the low and high beams were on at the same time, that high of a fuse isn't needed. I don't think you can do it on this model, but some cars you can pull the stick back and hold it and both low and high beams will light. That would justify having a 20a fuse...

low beams should stay on when high beams are on. so it makes sense.

Based on the fuse, yeah, it does. There's no standard, is there ? It seems to me to be more common that both the low and high beams are NOT on at the same time.

Still don't foresee it being an issue. Even something as high as 100w, combined with the stock 55w low beams, will be drawing less than 13a on a 20a circuit...

Back to my original question: Any brands to look at ? What brands to avoid ?
