99 Accord with Bose stereo

Hi Guys,

I have a 99 Accord that came with the Bose system and sub on the parcel shelf. Today I bought a new head unit (Alpine ipod) only to find that the connectors do not fit the standard ISO connectors that come with the stereo.

I just phoned Halfords who told me 'absolutely no stereo will go in there and if you do want a new stereo the whole car will need re-wiring!'

This cannot be true surely?? Can someone help me before I return the stereo and put the Bose back in?

Many thanks and nice forum by the way.

Ali

they are full of it. YOu have to buy the following

wire harness kit for your model of accord (BB has them)
an installation/mounting kit for your model of car.

you plug the wire kit into the accord harness and wire the stereo to it.
you remove old stereo and install mounting kit
slide new stereo into mounting kit

i hope you dont blow the speakers, because bose speakers are very low wattage, and on top of that the sub is powered through the deck, assuming that its a factory bose deck

Back when I was in HS, I used to raid the junkyard cars for speakers ..... I have a set of Bose from the doors of an Eldorado and they had small amps on them. I removed the amps (which were shot from the humidity of the junkyard) and the speakers worked fine! I built a set of DJ speakers from them, 2x6 horn tweets and a set of 90's JBL 12's. They worked beautifully! I have no place to put the large speakers now, so I stripped the components and trashed the wood ..... I can design and make new ones when the time comes :)

...... back to the point ...... the Bose car speakers that I stripped had small amps in the plastic enclosures.

No, its true that you have to rewire the entire car.

I was talking to a guy who used to work at Best Buy and he said he hated when cars came in with Bose systems. It took all day to rewire those things and the price was insane.
