accord front speakers
 

Just wondering what size front door speakers come stock on a 97 accord? If these are oval, can you retrofit in round ones?

If you aren't sure what your speaker size is, goto crutchfield.com and they will have a reference guide. Stay with the stock size. Any mods for other size/shape speakers are probably not worth the trouble unless you have big $ for a custom install.

Ok, i checked out that site like you suggested and this is what it said:

Front speakers
Dash : Tweeter
Front Door : 6-1/2"
Rear speakers
Rear Deck : 6x9"

So do the accord ex's have a 6 speaker system or is that a typo? Where is that tweeter in the dash, I have never seen them? It doesn't mention size either.

if you want good sound, change out the rear 6x9 for a 6.5" with a conversion plate, i forget what there called right now. Im saying that because round speakers sound alot better than the 6x9's. But your going to loose some bass, so add a 10 in the back and your set.

If you look at the front corners where the dash meets the windsheild, meets the a pillar you'll see a little speaker cover (about 2"x3") I don't know if it was stock in every accord on 94-97 or not but in my 94 ex they are there.... the just pop up and take a little bit of angle work to remove them but they come out fairly easy

Have you seen my post on putting in door speaker in a 94?

*edit* if you put in 6x9's in rear. Be careful that tweeter doesn't protrude above speaker to much that you can't use factory grill. I speak from experience :eek:

Agreed! I had the same problem. And of course Honda uses bolts that no one has (Lowes, Menards, etc...) so I just let them sit on top of the speakers which didnt look very obvious. Then I opted to put the speaker covers on that came with the speakers.
