Advice about speakers

Hey I'm new to the forums and new to Honda and I'm wondering about a few things. I have a 99 Accord and I love it but I want more sound in it, I have speakers for them but the last car I put them in the stock radio blew up on me so, my first question is, would puting the speakers in along with the strock ones put too much strain on the radio? My next question is if I replaced them with two of the stock ones would the radio be fine? Lastly would the radio be fine buying some better speakers or would I need an amp to go along with it. Thanks and sorry for the long read I just want to be 100% sure before I mess up my new car.

RE: Advice about speakers

Well, to have any ability to really help you it would help to know brand names and specs on the equpiment. I don't know what stock stereo the honda comes with but I'd assume its a nice (decent) brand. As for the speakers blowing up your stock radio, it really depends on what kind of speakers really, Mids/tweets? Subs? Brand? etc. I would highly doubt the speakers were the cause of frying the stock stereo unless maybe they were either wired incorrectly or something really power hungry like some subs. Iwould imagine a stock stereo could handle just about any mids/tweets, 6x9's etc (wired properly) If you go with subs an amp is almost always a given. Also with subs and amp power issues can arise, sometimes requiring you to add in a better alternator, capacitor, and sometimes even a 2nd battery with an isolator/relay.
If you could give us your equipments specs it make things easier. But maybe this will help you a little.
Peace.

RE: Advice about speakers

Hey, this is the link to the speakers specs, would I be able to add these to my stock speakers or would I have to take two out to put these in? http://gravityaudio.com/GR-1386H.html Also, if I could put those in along with my original speakers, what's the correct way to wire them up? Sorry about all the questions but I'm fairly new to this whole thing, thanks.
