Aftermarket amp/sub install trouble

I recently installed an amp and sub to the factory stereo using a line-out converter and remote wire both spliced in behind the radio. The voltmeter shows proper power to the lead and remote connections on the amp. It is properly grounded with a short wire and all the fuses are good. I even had a pro check the splice work behind the radio, but still the amp won't turn on. Does anyone have any other ideas why I'm still having trouble? Thanks in advance.

dont just look at the fuses put a meter on them and check for impedance. i had some blow and they didnt look blown.

if you measure voltage with a DMM, then the fuses are good.

what make/model amp? if you have 12V on battery and remote measured in reference to the amp ground, and it doesn't turn on, it could be a bad amp.

check amp fuses?

try disconnecting all speaker wires to ensure it isn't in protection (though that usually results in a light)

ah. note that do not measure resistance when the fuses are installed in the amp and powered up. you can just use your DMM to measure voltage on both sides of the fuse - that's what the small metal tabs are for.
