AfterMarket Sub 2011 Accord
 

Hey everyone, I just bought a 2011 Accord Coupe (manual!). I am used to a pretty great audio system from my old car, and would like to have something comparable in this one.

I've read everywhere in a lot of places that there is not a dash kit for the new accords, and because of that you can't add an aftermarket Nav system etc.

So my 2 questions are this:
1) Is that true, that you can't add an aftermarket head unit without incredible modification to the dash?
and
2) If I keep the factory HU, how does one control the subwoffer levels without the option to do so on the factory HU? Is it possible, or will I need to install some kind of aftermarket dial?

Basically, I want everything to look stock. So the fewer things I have to stick to my dash the better. Any help is MUCH appreciated.

replacing factory radios in new cars has become increasingly difficult with the integration of climate controls into the radio.

when using the factory HU, you can buy OEM interface products for a wide range of tuning options. the first goal is to reduce the high level signal on the factory amplified speaker wires to a lower level suitable for amplifier RCA inputs. you can get a simple line output converter (LOC) from David Navone Engineering. some amps have high level inputs as an option.

some amplifiers allow for a remote level controller that you can easily mount in your dash. there are also products out there for OEM integration that include a remote volume control. this is the aftermarket dial you mentioned. the dials are small and can be hidden or installed to look more factory.

the other trick is getting a remote turn-on signal from the factory system. this isn't well documented information. you'll have to verify if you have a factory amplifier first. if so, you have a location to tap factory speaker wires and get a turn-on signal. some amplifiers and OEM integration pieces have an auto turn-on feature to simplify integration.

what to get depends on your budget and your goals for the system and how much control you want from the driver's seat.
