amp and sub

Hey all,

I was wondering if antone knows if there is a set of rca jacks coming form the factory head unit in a 03 accord exl? I want to add small amp and single sub to the factory system so I can keep my steering wheel controls not to mention that the climate control is all tied into the radio as well.

Any suggestions appreciated!!!;)

RE: amp and sub

no rca jacks coming from the back of your factory unit.
u can keep the factory headunit and get a JL Cleansweep (Something like that)..
or you are going to have to get a aftermarket head unit with a cubby indash or the one that replaces ur factory headunit..
i prefer alpine headunit in the lower cubby..tats wat i have and lovin it.....

No pham, you don't need a JL Cleansweep to hook up a amp to a factory headunit. Amps have two different types of inputs, High Level (Speaker Level), and Low Level (RCA signals). Some amps only have Low Level (RCA) inputs, while most have both High Level (Speaker Level) and Low Level (RCAs). So if your amp has a high level input, you can use the rear speaker wires as the signal wires. The amp comes with a little plug with wires on it, you attach the speaker wires to the wires on the plug. If the amp only has Low Level (RCAs) input then you need a line out converter, I believe its called. Here is a link to a line out converter. It converts speaker level signals to low level RCAs.

RE: amp and sub

x2 .... cleansweep is to amplify the whole system, not just adding a sub. 2Fat is on the money for only adding a sub. Make sure that the LOC isn't set with too high gain or it will sound bad. Better off to have low gain on the LOC and higher on the amp.
