ASWC-1 Actual install...
 

Hello all,

I am looking for some advice for an ASWC-1 Actual install in an 2011 accord sedan...

I watched the video's, read the install instructions, etc...

My confusion relates to the hook-up of the wire connection from the car to the interface...

I am ok with the power (Red) and ground (Black). I just can't figure out which wires to connect to on the car harness side, so that I can send the signals into the interface.

The directions say to connect the Gray/Red wire to pin 16 of the vehicle. So does that mean I pull/splice/tap into the wire on the harness's side?

Then it tells me to connect pin 5of the vehicle harness to ground.

Is it just that simple? how would I check it with a multimeter before I crunch the car wiring?

Wouldn't pin 5 already be to ground in order to make the Steering wheel control switch's work???? And what about the other buttons??? Wouldn't they need there own dedicated circuits????

I wish the vendor could have been a little more informative about what I need?

Any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance...

OK... Got it working! Yeah!!!!

Here is what I learned...

Used line taps... Remove and solder copper to copper.
Spoke with the arrogant tech support and that is what they told me.
They were not interested in helping until I did that.
As much as I hated to, I did and THEN it worked... OK, lesson learned.

I had to actually cut into my car side harness.
As much as I hated to, there did not seem to be any other way.
I finally talked myself into cutting the wires only after much deliberations
and soul searching and knashing of teeth...
I could just see me having to pay the dealer a huge sum for restoration
if I had it wrong... YIKES, right? Anyway, what I ended up doing was to
peel back the bundling back as much as I could to expose as much of the
bundle as possible. I then left a generous amount of wire on the connector
side and did it. I left the connector side unconnected, but in hindsight, I
should have gone ahead and reconnected it for future restoration if required.
As it is now, I will have to go back in and reconnect, or the original config
will not work.

Also, I shaved some of the black plastic off of the 3.5 connector's back
shell so it would fit the connection better. My Sony has a huge build up
around the remote in (Blue) hook up...I think it made a much more solid
contact after shaving it a little...

As far as programing, there was none and it just self programed and worked
like it should. at first, I thought I would need to go thru the steps suggested
by the book, but it was not needed. Thankfully for sure!!!

Anyway, I am no installer or expert, but if you have any questions about
putting one in yourself, let me know. I will be happy to assist if possible...

thanks for the input. i agree that soldering is the only way to make connections. i never use taps.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and recently bought an 08 Accord V6 coupe. I bought this ASWC and tried following instructions, but still not having any luck. I've searched and searched, but wondered if you or anyone has pics of what/where you made connections. The light keeps blinking red and will not go solid. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, I have not been on here in a little bit.

I sent you a PM, but briefly, here are my suggestions...
1.) Get the latest device, or at least a SWWC-1, Best Buy did not have this newer model,
so I had to get one from a web vendor. I don't know if this was the problem or not.
2.) Use ONLY soldered connections. Mine simply worked after I used soldered connections.
3.) Download the proper direction sheet from the website for your car and device versions. Then follow it.

At first, mine just flashed as well. (Probably because it was never connected!)

After following the 3 steps above, it worked. (Not really sure which step was the answer!)
