Aux input for 1999 Accord
Just bought a '99 Accord. The stereo sounds good enough to me, so rather than replace it I've been searching for aux input options. Tried searching the word 'aux' but came up with many other subjects. I saw a couple online that plugged into the CD changer (that I don't have) socket. I was considering that, or - if anyone has disassembled the stereo I wonder if it's possible to solder leads to the amp input, possibly at the volume control? If the item I saw on Amazon for under $25 worked consistently I'd consider that. Saw a review stating it stops working intermittently and must be unplugged/plugged to reset. The nice thing about that though is it can possible be inserted into the CD changer socket without removing the stereo, just the panel below it.

I've seen results with the Grom Audio or PAC products that work with the radios without the in-dash 6-CD changer.

There was one I saw, maybe one of those - that plugs into where the changer would. According to the manufacturer, it may be possible to do that without actually removing the radio, instead remove the panel below the radio so the back of it is accessible.

The radio comes out in under 3 minutes so I wouldn't try to to hassle with working blind. best to lay eyes on it and verify prior to purchasing.

Yes it didn't look too hard to remove from what I saw.

If I end up disconnecting the radio (may not need to) looks like I'll need a code to get it going again. I found a sticker on the left side of the glove compartment, but it's numbers and letters, not 5 digits that I believe the code would be. I saw the same thing written in the manual along with 5 digits where the owner's zip code would be written.
I wonder if maybe the sticker could be the radio serial number and the 4 digit code written in the zip code section could be the code. Doubt there's a way to tell. The zip code is Alabama, I'm in Connecticut so there's a slight chance that's the radio code. Didn't find any cards as the manual states that would have the code.

Yes, there are two steps in that thread:
Step one is to get the numbers from the radio. " Hold the first and the last number on the presets "while holding" press the power button. Right down the two sets of numbers and call your dealership. "
Step two allows you to contact honda with the VIN and radio serial numbers: https://radio-navicode.honda.com/
This doesn't work if the radio isn't original to the car or if you don't have the original VIN from the donor car.
