I know on my 96 accord lx, I had to remove the center console and trim. The console had some screws and then the dash trim snapped out. Then there was access to the radio. Hope this helps man.

My friend took the frame round the dash out, undone loads of screws around the radio etc and still nothing, ive never owned anything so well built, is there anything else to try?

there is a 10mm underneath the stereo that has to come out for the stereo to come out.

If it is like my 2000
there are 2 screws under the bottom and then you have to pop out the clock and take that center cover off.

Yeah, those 2 screws are way back in there. They're almost past the radio its self. If you can't find them, grab a flashlight and try to see them. As I remember, the radio is connected to a little metal bracket by those 2 screws.

you are right about that. the factory radio does not compare to even some of the crappy aftermarket radios.
