A different 03 Accord audio issue

I have a different problem from most of the people posting about audio problems with their 03 Accords. I don't have a navigation system. My radio lights up and displays all info properly but no audio actually comes out of the speakers. When I press the Power button I hear a faint "woomp" from the left rear speaker but no further sound comes out. Is this a common problem? It seems like the reverse of this (no lights but audio works) is common enough to have warranted a service bulletin but I haven't seen any mention of something similar to my issue. Can anyone provide any ideas/recommendations to address this? Thank you for any assistance that anyone can provide.

i assume it is fully stock?

could be a failed internal amplifier.

That's right - factory installed radio and speakers.

Sounds like a failed amplifier. Bummer, those units have been terrible. Note that they were ot made by Honda, but like all car manufacturers, they were provided by someone else like Pioneer or Panasonic. I forget which off the top of my head, but it is easy to find,

Thanks for the info. Is this something that I need to take to the Honda dealership to get fixed (I'm well out of warranty so I have no expectation of getting out of this without spending some money) or a local car audio shop? It seems that if it is a commodity type product that burned out all Honda service will end up doing is being a middleman for me here.

Just look to eBay.
