Driver side panel light problem

I just noticed today that my light on the drivers door does not turn on but when i shut the door it turns on. Any ideas why the light turns on when the door closes?:confused:

Does it turn off after a time period?

its a 1997 accord v6

It doesnt turn off so i just took the light bulb out so it wouldnt burn it out or lower my battery any ideas?

I got it fixed
