high output alternator problem?

I have a 2000 honda accord 4 cyl vtec.. I just recently swapped alternators for a 220 amp mike singer alt. I have a stinger volt meter wired directly to my new alt to see my voltage it reads 14.5 then out of no where my dash light come on and it drops to 12.3?? If I put the car in neutral it goes back to 14.5 or if I hit the power locks it goes back?? Why is this doing this?? The alt belt is tight its not slipping??? The guy who built the alt says it has to do with the computer and t he way hondas charge?? He said there is a fuse I can remove that will stop this and it will constantly charge?

I can only guuess you have this alt in the car because of an audio unit....so I moved this as I bet KHA will have more to say. I only know how to turn the volume knob to max :)

It is the ELD. there is a thread on how to bypass it or you can get an external regulator for your HO alt.

yep. ELD in action. if you turn on your A/C you'll notice it jumps back up. read the ELD sticky.
