i keep getting different answers

i have 3 subs that are 4ohm dual voice coil and i want to achieve a 2 ohm load. i keep hearing it is possible to keep a 4 ohm load or wire it to a 1 ohm load. anyone know if i can achieve a 2 ohm load or 1 ohm load?

Liam: There are a few options. I'm assuming that you intend to have the same power to all coils.

1) Coils per speaker wired in series, 8 Ohms per speaker. Speakers wired in parallel. ---- 2.667 Ohms total, as stated above.
2) Coils per speaker wired in parallel, 2 Ohms per speaker. Speakers wired in series. ------- 6 Ohms total.
3) All coils and speakers in parallel. ------ 0.667 Ohms, most amps are not stable below 1 or 2 Ohms.
4) All coils in series. ----- 24 Ohms

Other arrangements will change the impedance, but the coils will not be balanced. For 1 Ohm, you can use 2 speakers and parallel 4 coils. If I were you, I'd go with Option #1, as recommended above.
