iPhone to work with Accord GTSport
 

Hello All

Heres what it is:

All I want is to have my iPhone playing trough my (In-Car Entertainment system) ICE I believe they like to shorten it to.

Now its shown on page 24 of the Accord 2008 Broucher but Honda wont fit it as they say it wont support the iPhone (after telling me on the phone it will) maybe they didnt expect me to pay in excess of £200 to play my iPhone through ICE lol - but I have been into Halfords and they have played and controlled the iPhone through one of their ipod compatible systems on display.. although they dont have anything to link it to the Accord.

So...

Called several places - looked online although always seem to end up with American suppliers saying they have a unit that will work:

the HONAUX4 & the Hon_Dice Connect both claim to work although they are from the states, dont wanna take that chance.

They make big claims and all is looking rosey - although as soon as I call them its all backtracking - they say you need to remove your 6-disk changer, the iphone wont charge, may not work from your sterring wheel - all the things that their website claims it does.

Can anyone help - here is what I have:

Accord Sport GT CDTi (07)
ICE System 6-disk changer with SAT Nav and touch screen (the CD button does have an AUX option, "you would think for something")

and

iPhone 3g

All I want is to press the CD\AUX button have the iphone play through the ICE and be able to control from steering wheel.

HELP Anyone

Have you tried playing you iPhone through the connector on a floor model at the dealership? Just to see if it works?

I've heard good reviews on both the dICE and USA-Spec adapters. I have an Alpine unit from 2004 and it plays all iPods and iPhones just fine.

Hoping that someone here may have had a similar experience and a solution - also hoping that someone wont end up being me :P

If I get no were soon I will be going back to Honda and asking them a series of questions including that one.

OK - so I went to another Honda dealer and asked about buying a kit for the iPhone - the guy said "Doesnt support the iPhone" - I asked do any of your cars there have the kit installed and I could come and and check it?

They had - I went - checked it - it worked - still they would not commit to selling me it - and are going to email Honda UK Accessories first.

Still waiting to hear from them.

I would still rather pay less than £225 that Honda want to play an iPhone through the car.

Anyone else able to help?
