JL W7
So my amp blew out last week. driving around and listening to music sucks. ugh.
so i figured, i'd upgrade my system a lil bit. JL 12W7. my question is, which JL amp would be able to accommadate it accordingly? |
RE: JL W7
If you plan on getting a W7, plan on spending a bit on an amp. I would recommend a JL 1000/1, or a 500/1 at the very least. I wouldn't skimp on such a powerful sub.

RE: JL W7
why do u chose JL when there are others that are better for a lower price. but JL 1000/1 should do. But like stated it is pricey.

RE: JL W7
Your next best bet is a Kicker ZX1000.1, but other than that I would go for the JL. I assume if your going for the W7 a Kicker or JL amp isn't out of your budget.

RE: JL W7
out of my budget?? lol i just been approved for an amex card with 0%apr for up to 15months. So imusing the amexcard strictly for this. i've had my audiobahn set-up since junior year in high school. i think its about time i deserve a new system that i plan on keeping for a while. thanks for your input. whats as good as JL, quality durability wise, but cheaper?

RE: JL W7
yea, i saw this posting a last week. but my concern would be if it'll blow out on me since its used. so is a used JL amp better then a new kicker ZX1000.1?

RE: JL W7
I have a Kicker Amp in my car and have loved Kicker since I was in HS.
But, for my next setup, I'm going with an amp from Elemental Designs. Check out there Nine.1 amp: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...products_id=44 $295 w/ free shipping. Good luck, Ashur |
RE: JL W7
From personal experience, I wouldn't go with the Kicker. They get hot....WAY too hot. I had the ZX 2500.1 and you could barely put your hand on it for 2 seconds after playing it for 30 mins. When I had my RF T30001bd I could play it for longer and put my hand on the amp and not worry about getting burned. I could hold it there for a good 10 seconds or so. They draw less current, but they don't really have the power IMO. The RF is really nice, just big, draws a little more current, but very underrated. Their t2000bd on average puts out 2,700w (when rated at 2,000).
If you really wanna upgrade, there's other brands to consider. Look into Zapco, I love their amps...even their oldschool AG model. Image Dynamics has a new amp, looks quite nice as well. The eD NiNe.1 is a good deal as well. |
