RE: my gps
I have the same problem as you. I live in Canada and half of my city has been blank since I bought the thing in 2005. You can try
http://www.hondanavi.com but they charge over 180 and they will most likely not have what you are looking for. I just got used to seeing blank space on the screen and everything else falling apart with this car. Good luck |
RE: my gps
Jhowkins posted about a special deal on new DVDs. It was awhile ago so chances are its over. The maps are stored on DVD, so you just need a new DVD. Which aren't' cheap, I wonder if you can burn your own...

RE: my gps
Try downloading off of torrents? (Sure it's illegal, but so should charging $200...) Just don't get caught downloading!
Good site is thepiratebay.org search Honda Navigation or something. |
RE: my gps
I was wondering about burning the DVD myself. It turns out many people have tried over at cdfreaks.cc, without success I might add.
However, it looks like a small group figured out that only certain brand DVD+R discs are able to read, if you change the booktype of the DVD from "DVD-R" to "DVD-ROM" As for torrents... they don't exist. At least they aren't tracked at any of the popular torrent trackers. I haven't done this yet, but I'll be sure to post some more info on what exactly I did you do it. I was hoping to tweak the software a bit so I could run modified (UPDATED!!!) software and maps, yadda yadda... Let me know if anyone has Navi Disc V3.70 and would be willing to send me an ISO copy of it. Thanks |
RE: my gps
yea you or the dealer are going to have to update and it will not be cheap at ALL..

RE: my gps
Actually, Alpine is responsible for the updates. The best suggestion I have to add something to the map is to go to Navteq and submit it directly to them. Alpine uses their map data on the navigation dvds, so if you submit it to them - the update will eventually find its way onto one of the next updates. If you're wondering, updates typically occur annually (once per year) and are released in the fall.
Here are some of the things you can update.... Choose from list: Address address is missing address appears in the wrong location address should be removed Point of Interest (POI) (bank, store, etc.)Business Owners: See our Direct Access program to regularly keep your POIs up-to-date POI is missing POI has incorrect details (location, category, phone number, etc.) POI should be removed Road and Road Feature road is missing road is in the wrong place or has the wrong shape road should be removed road name is missing or wrong Traffic Restriction add restriction incorrect restriction remove restriction |
