Need Help with Wiring
 

I've bought a new system and I cannot remember how to wire them up
I've got pictures to show you how my current system is wired
but I want to make sure this is correct before putting power to it.

Any help would be awesome!

model number of the sub(s)? quantity of sub(s)?

if you have one 4 ohm DVC subwoofer, you can only wire it two ways:
parallel for 2 ohms
series for 8 ohms

for the amplifier you show, series for 8 ohms is correct and how you have it shown above. granted, you'll get half of the rated bridged power.

to get a 4 ohm load from a single subwoofer you need
one 4 ohm SVC subwoofer, or
one 2 ohm DVC subwoofer, or
two 4 ohm DVC subwoofers

I have no clue if it will handle 2ohms or will they by default?

How do i hook this thing up for 2ohm then...
Just use 1 channel of the amp?
And switch the wiring so the sub is connected + to + and - to - with the amp wires leading to the corresponding lead?

Sorry... I'm trying to sort this out and I keep reading your message Hope... but I'm just not comprehending.

wire it has you have described above. no combination of wiring will let you get full power from that amp - you made the wrong amp purchase.

but don't worry about that for now. just run it bridged at 8 ohms - the amp will enjoy that load - that amp is GROSSLY overrated though.

don't just wire it to one channel at 2 ohms - you won't get any more power than 8 ohms bridged.

i expect that amp will provide at most 200W to that sub in any wiring configuration (2 ohm single channel or 8 ohm bridged).

be careful with your gain setting, you could easily clip that amp and damage your sub. the amp can only do so much, it's quite undersized for your application.

when you have the funds, buy a good amp - a monoblock by Rockford Fosgate or Alpine.

Just finished wiring everything up... and only the Farad cap comes on
Amp just looks at me like I'm a goon....
Might be getting a new amp sooner than I wanted to... :-/


Going to get a test light tomorrow and check my remote wire for power loss...

I left the wiring as I had it in my first picture.

yep, a volt meter to test for voltage is the first step in troubleshooting.
