New Sirius Install

Hey guys, yesterday I bought a sportser 5 and i have a few questions regarding it. As far as the antenna, would it be the same thing if I were to place it on the trunk as compared to the usual roof towards the back window position that that they recommend? and also if I were to go ahead and install it on the roof as far as me having to bring the wire by the side of the back window crack just like it illustrated on the manual, since theres no rubber thing that you can put truck the wire in, would the rain do any harm to it if water were to get in there? and one more thing, yesterday since I couldnt figure this whole thing out I put the antenna on top of the dashboard towards the passenger seat and it has good reception so far the only thing is that when i am under a bridge at a stop light, its blanks out. does the same thing happen under a bridge if you had the antenna mounted ont he roof? oh byt he way i have an accord 08 sedan.

This is really not my area of expertise but I'll give it a shot, just don't take it as gospel. Mounting it on the trunk should give you just as good reception as the roof, but there prolly will be a few rare instances where the roof would be a better spot, like if the satellite is in the sky way ahead of you. But I would think there is a chance of leakage mounting it on roof, unless there is something from the factory that allows you to install it properly. In the trunk there should be weather stripping on both the trunk lid, and where it comes down so it will seal around the wire just fine. NO mater where you install it, you will lose reception under a bridge, at least I would imagine I've never personally had XM radio. Mounting it on the dash will also work, but may not look so great and give you a bit less reception. My moms Avalon came with the factory XM antenna mounted on the top of the windshield behind the rearview mirror. So it does work, but she would lose reception going under a thick covering of trees too. I don't know if that is normal, or from the install location.
