MTX makes about the most bullet proof subs on the market and they have some serious output and offer plenty of subs on the cheap. Id stay away from Volksenwagenhag or whatever. Stick with the name brands - theyll have the best quality in both build and sound.

sorry guys I haven't really been online but yea i still have the subs..i duno if they will be worth it if i ship due to weight. Also, the subs are in a band pass box so im not going to split them up. But heres the link since i posted it up on craigslist.

Those subs were powered by an Audiobahn A8000T mono amp but once that amp died out on me, i decided to upgrade my sub and amp with this...JL 13W7 with a JL 1000/1 V2 amp

I love that sub[sm=drlove.gif]. A JL M10W5 marine sub that I ordered for my boat just came in. I can't wait to heal up a bit and install it in my boat. Its a 250w sub, I wonder how thats going to sound inside a center console...

Edit: I also ordered a pair of JL M770-CSS, I'm going to be giving them 100w I can't wait to hear how those speakers sound too! I'm going to run the speakers and the subs off an Alpine PDX-4.100M 4ch D class amp, with 100w to each speaker and 200w to the sub. Anyone have any experience with alpine's or anyone's D class amps with a speaker setup? I can't wait to get it all setup!

Hey guys, I have a question.

I think I am going to hook up my amp to just one sub tomorrow and am wondering how I do this? I havent messed w/ this stuff in so long I have lost all the knowledge about it! They are dual voice coil subs which I guess are diff. to hook up? And what about all the ohms n stuff? Thanks!

How many channels does your amp have? What is the resistance of the coils? RMS output of the amp? Ratings of the sub?

Sub is 500 watts rms and i think it is 4 ohms

Is that 250+250W? You said that the sub has dual voice coils ..... are they each 2 or 4 Ohm?

I'd expect that 800W number to be for 2 Ohms.

Since the amp can only handle 2ohms on each channel, when bridged it can only take 4ohms. So that is 800w at 4ohms. Depending on the sub it will take the extra power. If its one of those cheaper low quality brands I wouldn't run it for too long. Also depending on the brand of the amp, its prolly not putting out true 800w anyways.

Chances are the sub is 4 0hms dual voice coil so you would have to wire them in series like the diagram below, ignore the second sub. This will bring the Ohm load up to 8ohms which will be safe with your amp. If you wire them in parallel you will bring the ohm load down to 2 ohms and fry your amp. Even if the sub is 2 ohms you would still need to wire it like the diagram, and that make it a 4 ohm load. The way it works is if you wire them in series the ohms double, and if ran in parallel then the ohms is reduced by half. Hope this helps!

EDIT: Don't get confused by the picture the reason the final load is 4 ohms, is because each sub is wired to be 8ohms, then both subs are wired in parallel making the final load 4 ohms. I just want you to visualize what a single sub looks like wired in series.
