Radio Code Won't Work
Hi,
I am the original owner of a 1999 Accord EX. I recently put a new battery in and entered the code to start the radio and it will not accept the code. It gives me a error message. I have tried multiple times, took the battery out and tried again, checked and re-checked the code on the Honda card and nothing works. Is there a way to reset the code? Any suggestions? Thanks. Ok what is going on is probably that radio was changed and is not the original, so what you should do is call your local dealership, and give them the serial number of the radio(on the back), not the car's VIN number and they should give you the right code.

Hi,
No, the radio was not changed. I am the original owner. If at anytime the battery is switched out, you have to re-enter the code. It is now not working. Any other ideas? Thanks. |
Ok this is an electronic device, it's not going to make a mistake. You are either entering it wrong, or have the wrong code. Where did you get the code? When did you get it? Have you tried verifying it is the same code the dealer has on file? There is no way to reset the code. If you have the right code, and are sure your entering it correctly, then maybe there is something wrong with the radio itself. It's never bad to swap it with an aftermarket. You will have more and better feature, not to mention the increase in sound quality.

The code is correct. It's the one I received when I bought the car (the one on the plastic Honda card). I have used it before when I have changed the battery. However, probably not a bad idea to just put in another unit and move on. Still, it's weird.

Something is probably wrong with the unit itself and it would need replacement anyways. Our 04 Acura MDX navi used to continuously reboot itself and reject the radio code. We ended up having to replace it.

Ok, I'm so stupid. I think I am trying to use the code from my Honda Element. Now where did I put the Accord code card? If I lost the card, where is the sn on the unit and is it a pain to get to?
Thanks. |
If you bought the car new and never changed the radio, you just need the VIN. You see that's why I told you before to call the dealer and make sure your using the right code.

2006 Honda Accord Radio Locked
I have the code to unlock the radio. My problem is that I was pressing buttons when it said code 1-9 and now I am locked out. Just getting the error message now. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this mess?
