Replacing factory stereo

I have a 1999 EX with a single CD player. I may replace the factory stereo, or buy an adapter that will provide an aux input (plugs into where an optional CD changer would go), Either way - the stereo would be removed. From the owner's manual I see in the alarm section "It also alarms if the radio is removed from the dashboard or the wiring is cut." I don't see a dedicated alarm lead on the wiring harness diagram. I wonder what in particular would set the alarm off and can that be prevented? Looks like I'll also need something to fill in some space that the larger height stereo occupied.

I've had several aftermarket configurations in the 6th Gen Accord

Just disconnect the battery before removing the radio. I recommend just replacing it, there are plenty of kits that look good and you'll have modern convenience.

Those are good ways to fill the space, whether it be just a cover or an additional place for storage. My heater/AC controls are different, but maybe the same or similar dimensions.

Even cars without electronic heater/AC have the exact same radio dimensions.

Thanks - it's been many years since I replaced a stereo and don't recall if I'd disconnect the battery. Good policy to which also eliminates the alarm concern.

And it is cool seeing a Bluetooth icon on a stereo in a Gen 6 Accord.

Disconnecting the battery is always recommended when working on wiring, prevents accidental short circuits.

You can fit a double din radio in the dash also, which allows for many options, including a backup camera.
