small problem
 

ok so tonight I got in my car and turned my headlights on, but as I turned them on, I noticed that my gauges did not light up. Everything else on the dash works though, blinkers, parking brake light etc. And even the clock lit up when I turned on my lights, everything worked but the gauge illumination. Could you give me some ideas on what the problem might be?? This problem has nothing to do with my sound system i hope lol.

Check your fuses, not really familiar with your car. My guess would be a blown fuse or bulbs, nothing more than a guess though.

I checked the fuses and they seemed all fine to me. Also I noticed that when you have the headlights on and forget to turn them off and open the door, it doesn't make that beeping sound anymore, maybe because its on the same circuit as the bulbs behind my gauges. How do I get to the bulbs behind the gauges to change it? And you sure this is not a result of my soundsytem all I have at the moment is a Rockford 500rms amp power in 12's (with no cap). Earlier in the weeks blew a 30a fuse in the power line to line amp and replaced it with a 60a fuse.. If that's of any relevance.

Another guess as I really don't know much about this, but the only way the HU couldn't interfere with the gauge cluster is maybe a short on the illumination wire. Other than that I really don't know.

where is the illumination wire? Is it behind the HU? What does it look like?

You have an aftermarket HU right? If so it would be orange or orange with a white stripe(this is usually the positive dimmer).

omg yes I noticed an orange was not connected
to anything! Where does it connect to since my aftermatket HU doesnt have an orange? I just realized i noticed these problems the same day i was fooling around behind my HU!

No it not being connected isn't bad, just your HU won't dim with the dash. Now if that wire coming from the harness is exposed and not insulated, even just the tip of wire, it can short. I'm pretty sure that is a positive voltage signal, could just be a ground signal though. And if it is, then I don't think it would be on the same circuit your having problem with. Now if you have a orange with a white line, that is the dimmer and is definitely a positive signal and can short. Make sure none of your wires are exposed back there.

It is exposed!! The electrical tape fell off the end and I ran out of it so I couldnt put any on! Man I'm dumb!! Looks like this is solved so once i insulate the wire everything should work again? Thanks so much

Not entirely, you would have to find the blown fuse first. Did you pull ALL the fuses, or at least go over them with a checker. You can't really see them unless you pull them. If you can't narrow which fuse it is from the diagram, check them all. That circuit could be on a self resetting circuit breaker, but I would bet it's fused instead.
