Speaker Spacers
 

Has anyone put speaker spacers in the door of a 2000 honda accord sedan? I just wanted to see if 1 inch spacers will fit the speakers without touching the stock speaker grill in the door panel.

My 2001 doors with a 3/4" MDF and several layers of deadener and foam

1" may be too thick , depends on the woofer top thickness.

If so then where can i get 3/4 inch spacers without cutting my own because i dont have the tools for that.

Where are you getting 1" spacers that are made for an Accord? The issue is that you need to account for foam thickness between spacer and metal and between spacer and speaker basket. I am close to 1" with the additional deadener and foam layers.

I have no idea where you would buy spacers like these. A drill and a jig saw is all that is needed, maybe find someone and buy them a 6-pack?

In a pinch, I have used 3/4" closed cell rubber foam weather-stripping to act as a spacer and seal, then you can use standard 1/2" plastic spacers or adapters. Closed cell is important as it won't compress like open cell foam.

Install is key. Deadening and sealing the doors did WONDERS for mid bass response.

do you need some 3/4 spacers? i am about to replace my speakers. i am going to have to cut some. i dont have the demensions on a 2000 honda. but if you tell me the measurements i can cut you some out of 3/4 mdf when i cut mine. i would be willing to do the pair for 20 plus shipping. let me know.

I can give you a template, 2000 is the same as a 2001. You will need to know the inside dimension for the cutout. Wood needs to be waterproof, resin is best but deadener can work as shown above.

You can use the factory speaker as a template so the mounting holes are the same. But I prefer bolts in place of the plastic nuts. The plastic nuts just pop out.

I prefer t-nuts for mounting, but you need the drivers for that. The buyer could add t-nuts later.

That is a nice offer and a very fair price.

i have access to a cnc so it really isnt much work for me. if would come unsanded but if he wants to sand it it would be very minimal sanding. no reshaping needed just smooth the edges a bit.

i also do have resin and dampner at the house. if interested swagonpoint it would change the price but i can do that too.

They make a "skinny" version of these speakers DB651s, which do fit into the front of an Accord using the stock spacers and using the stock "basket" behind the speakers (although you have to use slightly longer screws than stock. They sound okay.
