i need new speakers for the back and want to spend somewhere under 80 or 90 buks I was looking at 400 watt jensen speakers for $50 or 300 watt pioneers for around $75 i think pioneers will have the better quality but the jensen speakers wit more watts and less $$... i was thinkin of either one of those but any other suggestions? thanks

You get what you pay for. Almost every time, a $100 speaker will sound better than a $50 speaker.

Decide the MAX you can spend on speakers, then go around to a bunch of shops and listen to all the speakers in your price range and pick the set you like best.

A lot of power is not necessary with a good quality amp and speakers. I run a Phoenix Gold 75Wx4 RMS amp pushing MB Quartz 6.5" components and Pioneer 3-way 6x9's and it is plenty loud for me .... unfortunately, my sub amp died so I need to get a new one and build a new sub (because I want to). I'm looking to push around 300W RMS for the sub.

I would not buy anything made by Jensen. It's garbage! Pioneers are decent and fairly loud. I would like to replace mine with JBL's, Polk's, Lanzar's, etc.

With the money that you are looking to spend, there are a lot of choices. Also, if you plan to power the speakers with your head unit, the RMS rating of the speakers should not be much more than 100W. If your amp power and the rating of the speakers are much different, you can blow out either from distortion. Power rarely causes failure, distortion is the killer.

agreed 100%. i tried a pair of sony 5.25s in my doors, and the factorys sounded better. i returned them for polks.
