Stereo/Display Help Please!!!

Im new to the forum but have a slightly large issue. I have a 2005 Honda Accord Coupe EX. As I was driving home today I was listening to a CD and it stopped working and said Mechanical Error. Then the entire display went blank and nothing was working. Slowly the display faded back on but the radio and CD player weren't working. It seemed to be stuck on XM radio. Finally it got to be where I could use the radio but the CD player still said Mechanical Error. I thought if I stopped and turned the car on and off it may solve the problem so I did this. Not good. I turned the car back on and the speakers started popping and the display was off (again). Slowly the display came back on but I still had no CD player and all I got from the radio was white noise. I stopped again and turned it on and off and everything worked. I ejected all CDs and the radio was working fine until I got home. When I pulled in the driveway I turned the car off and back on and nothing worked again. Turned it off and back on again and heard some kind of ticking noise coming from the 6 cd changer which I thought was odd since there were no CDs in it. The radio and display were now workign tho. Turned it off and on several more times and everything seemed to be working. Im sure that when I go back out in a bit it wont be working again tho. If anyone could please help it would be much appreciated. Im sorry this is so long I just wanted to give all aspects of the problem. Thank you!

I'm sorry but your unit is dead/dieng. The 03-05 units fail quite commonly, and seems to be getting even more common. I would call and complain to honda america, doubt anything will come from that but you've got nothing to lose there. What your going to have to do is replace the unit, with either another OEM unit or an aftermarket. I recommend going aftermarket is sound is a priority to you, the stock HU is pretty shoddy in the quality department. If you do want to replace it with an OEM unit, I actually have mine from an 06, which I only had installed for a couple months, for sale here on these forums. If your interested let me know.

I'm asking $200 shipped with a free AUX interface. That really comes out to $175 plus shipping, I could sell it for more on ebay but I'd rather sell it to someone who needs it. My for sale thread can be found HERE
