Voltage Issue
I'm having a voltage problem with my 2009 Accord. I have a voltmeter and it has been going wild for the past 2 weeks. In the past my voltage was ALWAYS at a solid 14.50v. Now it sits at 14.20 while dropping to 12.40 for 15 minutes and maybe shooting back up in seconds, then dropping again, ect.
Not sure what the issue is. I only have a JL 500/1v2 amp so that's definitely not the problem. Plus the issue persists even after I turn my music off. Could there be something wrong with the battery/alternator? |
There is a load detector circuit that drops charging load when electrical load is low to improve fuel economy. It's been around for a long time. I don't remember it going low for that long, but might w/ a good battery.
good luck |
could also be a sign that your alternator is going out.

good luck Maybe I'll get the alt tested at my local shop. |
I agree that the ELD will do that, it turns the alt off while driving based on the ignition load. You may not have noticed it or you had enough ignition load to prevent it from turning off. See my thread on the subject in this section. Next time it drops, turn on the fan, that ignition load will turn the ELD back on.

I think that was the problem. My voltage will drop to 12 and then I'll turn on the air for it to shoot up to 14.2v.
This probably won't happen when I have the SAZ-1500D in there... Thanks guys! |
It will happen regardless of you amp since the amo isn't wired through the ELD, nor could you. See my ELD bypass thread for a work around.
