want to use the AUX button to plug in my XMRadio unit
OK, confused newbie here. I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX Coupe. The stock radio (no navigation, just AM/FM 6 CD) has an CD/AUX button, but there is no (exposed, anyway) aux jack.
I have an XM Radio unit (XM Snap SiriusXM - Shop - XM Snap for the Vehicle) that plays through my FM radio (less than ideal since it is hit or miss, and I have to tune it in to a different station depending on where I am driving). But, it can be hooked into an aux jack...if only there was one. What is the best way for me to install an aux jack so that I can plug and play my XMradio and other devices (like my Android phone) through my car stereo using my aux input rather than FM? The car stereo installation guy, at a large nation-wide electronics store, suggested I search this forum; I've searched this forum and found some related topics, but I don't really know enough to assess which solution works best for me. Thanks, Mark |
is your xm modules output rca or 3.5mm plug?
looks like a 3.5. it only has a 1v out put so dont expect performance to be too much greater. just wont have to worry about changing stations. and youll need this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-MP3-iP...ht_5748wt_1037 this will not allow for control of the unit just for it to be played over the speakers without using the fm |
I have an old adapter if you are interested

Thanks neophyte, rio. I ended up getting a unit similar to what neophyte suggested, but it also has the ability to dock to iphone/etc. so play lists can be changed from the radio controls. Turns out I needed a ground loop isolator as well so I picked one of those up at Radio Shack. Problem solved! Of course, now the lock on my pasenger door only works manually (not related). Oh well...another project for another day.
Prost! Mark |
