Wiring an LED light in my trunk
 

So my 97 Accord didn't have a trunk light when I bought it. I don't think the trunk lid is the original and whoever put it on never installed the new light. Because there are no wires for a light or a light housing. Anyway, I have a 12 SMD LED panel I want to install into the trunk but I don't know where I could draw power from. It would be nice if the light would only come on when the trunk opens but I don't want it on all the time (obviously). So if anyone has any ideas on where I can draw power from for the LED it would be greatly appreciated. I'm open to any suggestions!

Cody - My 97 has a trunk light and I am pretty sure that it is not on the trunk lid but actually under the rear deck.
I have the base model Accord so I am pretty sure it is standard on all Accords.

I could be totally wrong and may be confusing cars.

See if you have one under your rear deck, that may be burnt out.

When my Honda gets back later today (GF just drove it to work) I will take a look.

If you are going to add one, because your car does not have one, you will have to run a wire from your fuse box to the trunk (real easy)

Most important thing is to come up either with a pressure switch (like a door pin switch) which you will have to drill a hole to use or some type of "Mercury Switch" (I am sure they are no longer mercury but I do not know what else to call them) which could be double sided taped to the trunk lid.

Either switch would turn on and off the light when the trunk opens. You do not want to use a normal switch cause you will forget and leave it on and that is not good.

Took another good look in my trunk and I found the wiring for the light, but no actual light housing or anything lol. The wire was tucked into the rear deck where I couldn't see it haha! Now to wire up my LED trunk light!
