RE: Yellow Top Battery

It all depends if we're talking about max wattage of RMS wattage. in max wattage I can easily put way over 10kw in my trunk.

Earthquake 15" HoLeeS sub 15,000W max
DVC 3000W RMS each

PowerHouse Amp 20,000 W max

I dont know what else I'd needas far as running that much power and possible destruction.

RE: Yellow Top Battery

This is also RMS at 3.3 Ohms impedance. The point is that it could be done.

My next point is that it'll vibrate the car to pieces!

guys that compete in dbdrag and bassrace have huge amounts of power in a tunk car. i wanna say the loudest trunker out there is in the mid to upper 150s (mike stiers). i have a 200amp alternator in my 92 accord that is the same physical size as the stock one, the internals are just different. i have a huge battery (NSB 90)that i managed to squeeze in my factory location. anything is possible..u just gotta have the balls to try things. here the alt, battery and install in my ride...

200amp iraggi alt.

nice setup!! How much HP would you expect that the 200A alt is costing you ..... noticed the smaller pulley. I'd guess at around 5 HP .... straight conversion gives 3.2 plus inefficiencies.

Wow .... 70 lb battery!!!!

RE: Yellow Top Battery

some of us are into making cars go fast, and some of us are into making cars get loud...i am the later of the two. i could car less about how fast my car goes, im more interested in making it loud. the pulley is smaller for the obvious reason of achieving a higher output from the alt at low rpms. i mean, i know it may not be ur cup of tea...but its most certainly mine. thanks for the compliment though. my goal is to make my entire car vibrate to pieces..lol...but i currently have about zero rattle noticable from outside/inside the car do to the way i isolated the cabin from the trunk area.

HuYnHness: u should never speak in terms of max wattage b/c u will never see that in the real world, the only reason companies put that on there is to hype up their product imo. rms is the only way to look at things.

Doesnt that battery block your flow to your intake? How much did that battery and alt cost?! Thats huge!! Cool setup though!

RE: Yellow Top Battery

thanks man! it might just a hair since it hangs a bit over the stock location...but i cant tell a difference from that one and from the longer intake that went below the bumper before i installed that battery. i cant remember 100% b/c its been like 2 yrs since i bought it, but i wanna say the alt was between $350-$400and the battery was like $250-$290...its one of the best batteries out there for competitors and it cost almost half of what a kinetik 2400 cost. i love it...its a friggin beast. i really dont need that much electrical with this current setup, i just have plans to upgrade in the future :Dif you all want more info on the alt then check out the site in my sig, Iraggi alts has a section over there if you are interested.

I couldn't agree more that you do what you like to your car. As for HP, I asked out of curiosity and I understand that it's not your focus. Sounds like you took your time with the sound deadening .... great!!! I appreciate ANY kind of job done right! As for what I like; I like clean clear music and good bass as well. True that I'm not really into SPL or extreme amounts of power, mostly because I get the sound that I like from much less power resulting on less effect on the car and less electrical upgrades needed. That said, I have built some very powerful boxes and blew my sub amp on a pair of mid-90's JBL comp 12's in a dual bandpass. When that beast was in my trunk, I also had a second battery (mainly because I had it).

Does the rear of your car sag from the weight?

amatt85 09-19-2007 06:42 PM

RE: Yellow Top Battery

it sags ever so slightly. i do plan on maybe putting some kinda of basic air suspension within a year or so (or if not air, then a suspension that can handle greater loads). i really wanna wall it off and do some sort of clamshell design with a ton of subs...which means a ton of weight due to batts, amps, subs, enclosure...thats why i plan on upgrading the suspension.

i actually didnt do any sound deading (i will when i rip everything out though)..i think i dont get any rattles just because i have the trunk and cabin isolated from one another.

to be honest with you, the subs i have are tremendous in terms of SQ...they actually arent geared toward spl at all...i just put them in a bigger than reccommended box so i can get into the mid 140s with them. they sound amazing and can really get down on the low notes. you should check them out if you are interested in some good sq subs that not aton of people know about..RE (the SE series) http://www.reaudio.com

on a side note: can u put pics directly on this site, or do u have to put the link up? thanks.

RE: Yellow Top Battery

Go to sears and have them look up what fits your car ..... they have a cross-referance system. Look down the list and after the normal accord batteries (standard, silver, gold, yellow, red .... blue?) they have the same size btteries for vehicles like the Pilot and Odyssey. They have a lot more CCA's! I forgot what mine is because I got it a few years ago, but itwas much higher than stock and a lot cheaper than a yellow top Optima. Also, with a full 1000W RMS, you should have a little more capacitance. A farad is good up to 1000W, but they die over time similar to batteries, so you may not have the full farad anymore. Some people on here say that caps don't do anything ...... their correct only for SPL competition. In an extended suspension, the power is used constantly, so there is no recharge time for the cap ..... this is why they use tons of batteries and no cap.

The "if I were you" solution: 1) new battery as described - mine cost $10 more than the direct replacement. 2) add another capacitor (small would be fine since you just need a little head room).
