Anyone know a good detailing place in NYC?

i'm looking to detail my 2005 accord, can anyone recommend a place?

i have some scratches (i have touch up paint, but dont know how to use it well) and a swirl mark

Most scratches can be buffed out, along with your swirls.

Rule of thumb that I've heard is if you can feel the scratch running your nail across it, it's too deep to be buffed.

any tips on how to get out minor scratches and swirl marks that have been there for more than 2 years??

i have 0 experience with body work

0 experience = taking it to a shop

It's waaaay to easy to burn paint on accident.

Before you spend big bucks on a shop, go to Wal-Mart or auto place and buy a good brand for removing scratches and whatnot. I would Google it and find a product a lot of people recommend.

However, if you detail your car yourself, it would be much cheaper to simply polish, clay bar, wax your vehicle. Wax fills in some swirls and scratches. So if it is to expensive and you reg. wax your car, go with the above route.

i have i bought some nu-finish products to fix the scratches and swirls on my car and it didn't do it: http://nufinish.com/faq.html what other options do u recommend to a noob that never waxed a car before? only know how to hand wash with a sponge n hose lol

Need pics to see how bad they are.

Dont use a sponge, they pick up grit and cause scratches + swirls.

Try using a lambskin wash mitt. You are supposed to use 2 buckets, however, I only use one.

I use a sponge and one bucket. It will not scratch if you wash the car roof-to-bottom (most of the grit is on the rocker panels and bumpers).

3M Polishing Compound is what I'd use along with an electric buffer. To get any real results, you'd need a commercial buffering capable of spinning faster, but then you risk burning the paint like I mentioned.

Nothing looks better than a bad buff job... it's like rite of passage into the car world. We all do it once.... just hope you don't do it on your car ;)
