Changing a Cabin Air Filter 2005 Honda's

5 Attachment(s)
Just changed the cabin air filter on a 2005 Honda Civic & thought there might be some who like to know how to "Getter Dun"

#1) The cabin filter I purchased came in a 2 pack for just @ $19.00. You will only need one filter that I know of.
#2) The cabin filter is located behind the glove box or jockey box.
#3) You will have to remove the glove box. There are 2 (I'll just call the keeper for now) keepers on each side of the box holding in the box place.Attachment 3997
Carefully pry them out on the front first then they seem to slide forward & will come out. I also started on the back side to access the prongs or clips better. Attachment 3998
#4) Now you should be looking for this door like lock.
Attachment 3999 It will open from the drivers side of the car & clips in on the passenger side.
#5) Remove the door lock & the filter will now side out into the passenger compartment. I took the small tab on the right & moved it right while pulling out & left on the the left tab.Attachment 4000
#6) Replace the cabin filter with your new filter. Notice the directional arrows both on the filter & the filter housing.Attachment 4001
#7) Re-install everything by reversing the steps.
I hope this will help save you some time & moneyhttps://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...ons/icon14.gif

today I checked my Cabin Air Filter on my 10 Accord Coupe. just got the car about a month ago with only 21K miles on it.

while the car had been "serviced" regularly (oil and filter changes only it appears), the owner neglected to check the Cabin Air Filter. I checked it out this morning and it was NASTY. bugs, dirt, helicopters, etc.....it was B A D. I picked up a Purolator replacement filter at Advance Auto Parts for $15.99.

on my 8th Gen Accord, its very easy to check and replace. drop the glove box, squeeze the tabs on the access door and slide out the filter tray. remove the filter and replace.

I recommend everyone check their filters periodically. for me, out of sight, out of mind is usually the way it works, so I'm planning on changing mine every time I do my Oil and Filter change. with the miles that I drive and my oil change intervals (using Mobil 1 every 7,500 miles), it works out changing it every 4 months. for the $16, its money well spent. :)
